Inspiring the Next Generation
Dr. Brandi Tiner
In the world of dentistry, Dr. Brandi Tiner stands out as a true mentor and advocate for aspiring dental professionals. Her tireless efforts have not only helped high school students explore their dental aspirations but have also been a guiding light for dental students at the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine at the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP).
Driven by an unwavering commitment to empowering women in healthcare, she passionately believes in breaking down barriers and ensuring that every individual, especially women, recognizes their potential in the field.
Dr. Brandi Tiner's journey toward becoming a mentor and advocate began with her own experiences in the dental field. As a successful dentist at EP Dentistry for Kids, she recognized the importance of mentorship in shaping the careers of aspiring dentists. With this realization, she decided to contribute to the growth of future dental professionals actively.
She went to College Station to become an Aggie at Texas A&M University with not one but two BS degrees in Biomedical Science and Nutritional Science-Dietetics. Dr. Tiner continued her education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, graduating in 2002 with a DDS.
Armed with her medical license, Dr. Tiner served at Fort Bliss, in El Paso. She then went on private practice at a general dentist’s office. But something just wasn't right. She was wondering if being a dentist maybe wasn't for her since going to the office seemed like a job versus her passion.
One of Dr. Tiner's primary focuses is mentoring high school students who aspire to become dentists. Recognizing that the journey to becoming a dentist begins long before one enters dental school, she believes in guiding and supporting young minds as they explore their interests in dentistry. Through one-on-one interactions, Dr. Tiner provides invaluable insights into the dental profession, helping these students make informed decisions about their future.
What sets Dr. Tiner apart is her dedication to mentoring women in particular. She is acutely aware of the challenges that women face in healthcare and is committed to ensuring they recognize their abilities to overcome these hurdles. Her mentorship extends beyond just academic and professional guidance; she instills a strong sense of confidence and empowerment in her mentees.
